Are New Day The GOAT Faction in Pro-Wrestling?

An interesting topic that has come up lately is about New Day and if they are the GOAT faction in WWE and pro-wrestling. Can a case be made for both arguments with New Day? Of course it can and considering their run so far, it makes sense they’re in the conversation for GOAT faction.

WWE has had many factions throughout it’s history, but New Day has longevity on their side and not many factions in WWE can come close to New Day’s run. Merch wise, New Day has always been one fo WWE’s best sellers. In short, New Day are the GOAT faction in WWE. Let’s see if New Day can claim the crown of GOAT faction in pro-wrestling.

nWo and Bullet Club are two factions that had a big impact in the wrestling business and still do. New Day’s impact on the wrestling business is hard to measure. WWE doesn’t really rely on PPV buys or tickets sold anymore, their business is focuses more on their TV contracts. New Day have been had solid ratings every time they are on screen, in that metric New Day have been good. As mentioned before, their merch numbers have always been good and they’ve always been one of WWE’s best sellers.

Accomplishments are important in wrestling too and New Day are not shame of them in WWE. New Day has won the tag team championships in WWE 11 times (4 RAW & 7 SD), Big E and Kofi have won the most important title in the promotion, the WWE championship, at least once and Woods recently won King of The Ring. A very impressive resume.

Quality of matches are a subjective thing, as a group most of New Day’s best matches were against The Usos and The Bar. WWE’s tag team division has been poorly booked for many decades now and WWE is simply not a tag team promotion, despite that, New Day has carried the division when they needed it the most and that should count for something. One big problem with New Day is that their only memorable feud is a against The Usos, this is not New Day’s fault but more on creative and the promotion. The Uso-New Day feud is getting into the Orton-Cena territory and that’s not a good thing.

One thing about New Day that can’t be ignore is representation. Representation really matters and Kofi’s WWE title win back in WrestleMania 35. It’s not my place to talk about representation of black wrestlers in pro-wrestling, but New Day’s work on this department is unmatched and they’re doing a fantastic job right now.

The GOAT debate is subjective, I would love to see New Day outside of the WWE bubble and face different opponents, but that’s never going to happen. New Day should be in the conversation from here until the end of time, they have the arguments for their case. Personally, I think we should wait until New Day retire just so we have a complete look of their careers before calling them the GOAT faction and compare them to other all time great faction of the sport.
