Impact Wrestling Almost Brought In MMA Star To Feud With Ken Shamrock

Impact Wrestling has made a lot of interesting moves as of late. Bringing in former All Japan Champion Joe Doering was a recent one, and the recent news they had looked into bringing Kurt Angle back to the company was another.

However, Impact Wrestling almost brought in a very interesting name to work with Ken Shamrock and it would have made waves in both the world of professional wrestling and mixed martial arts.

Shamrock is Impact’s latest Hall of Famer, enjoying a hell of a second act in his career with them, and the company almost added another interesting chapter to his career by bringing in Chael Sonnen to work with him. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported this originally and said that they wound up changing their mind.

“Chael Sonnen had discussions about coming here for a feud with Ken Shamrock, but ultimately decided against it.”

While the prospect of another former MMA star coming to pro wrestling may not have excited wrestling fans right away, MMA fans could have been salivating at a potential dream match against two MMA legends. Although it didn’t happen, Shamrock should be fine. He has a match against World Title match against Rich Swann on next week’s Impact.
