This years NJPW G1 Climax has been amazing, there has been some truly incredible wrestling but the tournament has had plenty of drama as well. Whilst most eyes were on the looming Bullet Club civil war between Evil and Jay, NJPW saved their biggest twist for the final block stage matches.
This years NJPW G1 Climax has been amazing, there has been some truly incredible wrestling but the tournament has had plenty of drama as well. Whilst most eyes were on the looming Bullet Club civil war between Evil and Jay, NJPW saved their biggest twist for the final block stage matches.
Block A was finally balanced at the top of the block, with Kazuchica Okada, Kota Ibushi and Jay White joint leaders with 12 points a piece. Right behind with a chance to advance was Will Ospreay on 10 points. Will still had a chance of advancing to the final as long as he could over come his long time mentor and the man that brought him to New Japan and the Chaos Stable, Kazuchica Okada.
Ospreay and Okada had incredible contest a true back and forth battle but towards the end of the match Okada would catch Ospreay in his Money Clip submission (Cobra Clutch), as Ospreay began to fade his fiancée and Stardom wrestler Bea Priestly would make her way to ringside. Bea would try to enter the ring, and in the process, distracting both the Referee and Okada, whilst distracted the The Great O-Kharn (Tomoyuki Oka) back from excursion, would enter the ring. The Great O-Kharn would then lay Okada out with his Iron Finger slam.
This would allow Will Ospreay to pick up the win against his stable mate. Ospreay was not done there though, attacking Okada after the match had finished. Once Will had finished with Okada he grabbed the mic and addressed the crowd. In his statement he made it clear that he was leaving the Chaos stable was going to making a stable of his own, we assume the Great O-Kharn will be first member of the stable.
