WWE Report Strong Second Quarter 2020 Earnings

Even during a worldwide pandemic and seemingly never ending chaos, WWE always find a way. 2020 has been a horrific year that the majority of people would like to forget. On top of the pandemic we also saw rioting, protests, movements and other unforeseen issues. Despite the uncertainty within professional sport and entertainment, WWE have posted their 2nd quarter earnings, and the company surprisingly have a lot to be happy about.

WWE boasted a very strong earnings report as they had total revenues of $224.4 million. They pulled $268.9 million in the previous quarter, but a lot of that was due to the timing of money from Saudi Arabian events coming in. The company had an operating income of $55.7 million compared to the $17.1 million in the prior quarter. Some of that can be attributed to the majority of their programming and production being done in house.

However, the most surprising figures come from WWE Network subscriptions. While Network subscribers may have declined 1.5% to 1.66 million subscribers, the amount of paid subscribers rose by 6% to 1.69 million. The company’s digital content increased by 10% overall and eCommerce, such as the WWE Shop, almost doubled to $12.6 million.
