War Games “The Match Beyond” Possibly Being Announced At AEW Revolution Tonight

All Elite Wrestling had a panel at C2E2 last night, leading to their pay per view on February 29th titled Revolution. The panel consisted of Excalibur talking to Cody and The Young Bucks.

After about an hour Excalibur opened up the floor to the fans to ask questions. One fan asked if there were any old school matches that AEW were looking to bring back. Cody took the answer and wasn’t that coy with his response.

War Games is special to Cody because his father Dusty Rhodes created the match when Dusty was the booker for the NWA banner under Jim Ctocket Promotions.

Since leaving WWE, Cody has tried to trademark as many things as he could in relation to his father. Stating on the AEW podcast that he wants to just have many of the trademarks for his family.

One of the trademarks Cody has applied for is ‘The Match Beyond’ which was the nickname for War Games. AEW wouldn’t be able to call it War Games because WWE bought the rights to the name from MLW owner Court Bauer and has used War Games for their NXT brand for their November TakeOver events.

Cody stated that if the announcement doesn’t happen at Revolution, it’s because they went over their allotted time.

Other things covered at the panel were

-They will be going overseas to the UK for up to three shows. Nothing set in stone on Canada or Mexico but Cody bet a fan $100 that AEW will run Canada this year.

-An AEW video game is in the works but Kenny Omega is heading that front and will make an announcement when the time is right.
