Dana White Likes Idea of An Interim Featherweight Title Between Josh Emmett vs. Yair Rodriguez
An unfortunate end went down to end today’s UFC Long Island card that was aired on ESPN and the ABC network.
Yair Rodriguez would get the win today vs. Brian Ortega. But it came with an ending no one wanted to see in a billion years.
Ortega got the sweep to bring Rodriguez to the ground, that would lead to an arm-bar submission attempt from Rodriguez and as he kicked his foot, that would clash against the shoulder of Ortega’s which led to it coming out of it’s socket thus awarding the win to Rodriguez by TKO injury.
This could now lead to an interim championship bout between Rodriguez vs. Josh Emmett who recently won a close decision vs. Calvin Kattar.
The UFC President said during the post-fight press conference that he likes the idea of running Emmett vs. Rodriguez for the interim title with current champion Alexander Volkanvoski out with a hand injury that also required surgery.
