Trick Williams Recalls Pitching ‘Family Ties’ By Baby Keem And Kendrick Lamar to Inspire His WWE Theme
Trick Williams talks about his theme song.
While speaking with Robbie Fox on My Mom’s Basement, Trick Williams talked about the pitch he gave to the music guy for the WWE on how he wanted his theme song to sound, Williams used the track “Family Ties” by Baby Keem, featuring Kendrick Lamar and the rest was history.
“The original pitch that I gave the music guy was, ‘I love Family Ties by Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem.’ I love the horns at the beginning. I like the horns, the bass, the 808 drums on it. It feels like royalty. Hip hop royalty walking into the room. That’s how I saw myself, just representing the hip hop culture and those horns make you feel like such a big deal. They came back with the theme that I have now. ‘This is perfect.’ Mind you, the theme is an instrumental. I didn’t know people would be chanting. Since day one people have been chanting ‘Whoop That Trick.’ It’s better than I could have imagined it. The theme itself, I loved it right away,” he said.
Williams has shown out in the last couple of months since coming up from NXT following his stint there as a two-time NXT Champion and a TNA World Champion.
