Gunther: I Try to Avoid Everything That Has to Do with the Flag, I’m Not a Foreign Menace

Gunther doesn’t want to be another stereotypical heel.

The Ring General has seen throughout wrestling history how easy it is for foreign wrestlers to be portrayed as a heel because of their in-character hatred for America.

However, Gunther doesn’t believe he needs to be that way, he doesn’t need the Flag, he is the menace himself who has retired all-time greats and accomplished many world championships.

“No, I’m not a foreign menace. I always get a little annoyed because they go, ‘He’s just a bad foreigner.’ I try to avoid everything that has to do with the flag. They put it on my trunks when I started out, they really wanted to put the flag on me. I got rid of it as soon as I could because it doesn’t do anything. It’s not 1990 anymore. Today, it’s about the person,” Gunther told Cody Rhodes on What Do You Want To Talk About?

Gunther recently unmasked Dragon Lee while submitting him in their match on this past week’s episode of WWE Raw on Netflix, a move that cemented the lengths he will go to so he can walk out with the win.
