Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill
It appears as if this WrestleMania season will be just as filled with drama as the last. Following her win in the women’s elimination chamber this past Saturday, Rhea Ripley punched her ticket to WrestleMania, earning a title match against WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill.
Over the past two days, Ripley and Cargill exchanged barbs on X, prompting questions about whether this was in-character interaction or actual beef between the two superstars. In a recent post to her Instagram story, Ripley wrote the following.
“Not having fun. Not friends. Learn to work and never lie to defame someone’s real human character by breaking the 4th wall” – Rhea Ripley on Instagram.
This post seems to confirm that this has not been a kayfabe way to build hype for their upcoming match. Cargill’s post, in particular, likely elicited Ripley’s affirmation that this was not a planned exchange. That was when Cargill accused Ripley of spending hours in creative, essentially referring to the Bayless claim that Ripley plays politics backstage to get opportunities.
Based on the way other superstars like Chelsea Green and Piper Niven have chimed in on this drama, it’s fair to say that Cargill isn’t endearing herself to the rest of the women’s locker room. The fact that Ripley has to declare that the two of them aren’t friends shows that the women’s champion crossed the line. With WrestleMania in seven weeks, we can only hope they squash this beef before the big show. But it appears that the women’s champion isn’t doing herself any favors thus far.
Regardless, this has certainly made the road to WrestleMania slightly more volatile.
