Chris Jericho: For Me, The Greatest Of All Time Is Shawn Michaels
Chris Jericho names off his GOAT in professional wrestling.
While speaking with Spencer Matthews, Chris Jericho was asked all about his Mount Rushmore and who he would choose as his greatest professional wrestler of all time from his childhood to his 35+ year career as one of the best to ever step foot in the ring.
“There are certain names that everybody would pick, so I’ll go opposite. For me, the greatest of all time is Shawn Michaels. That’s the best for what I like in wrestling. It’s all subjective. Who’s the greatest of all time? Well, what do you like or don’t like? Shawn to me was the best from an athletic standpoint, from a character standpoint, from a storyline standpoint. I don’t think it gets much better than Shawn. I was a huge fan of his when I was a teenager.
I was a huge fan of Ricky Steamboat, a huge influence on me. A huge fan of Owen Hart, who I was so into and I think is so underrated because he passed away at such an early age. I’d also go with the British Bulldogs. I’ll put Davy Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid on there. Those are my Mount Rushmore of inspirations that I had when I was starting to watch wrestling that I still think about to this day, like my golden era of wrestling. The guys that I love to watch were those ones.”
Jericho would go on to feud with HBK multiple times in his career with their last feud in 2008 being the last to feature the ruthless aggression side of WWE before their transition to the PG era with John Cena leading the new change.
