Penelope Ford Injured During AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Match
On the February 25th edition of AEW Dynamite, Penelope Ford suffered an injury during her tag team title match with partner Megan Bayne against the current champions, the Babes of Wrath (Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale).
Fans captured photos of Ford being checked out by doctors during the commercial break, and sure enough, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select later confirmed that Ford did indeed get injured, leading to the finish changing mid-match.
“During Babes of Wrath vs. Megabad, Penelope Ford sustained an injury that took her out of the match. An audible was called during the match that Lena Kross would run in and cause a DQ, instead of leaving a match as a 2 on 1 where the heel in Bayne had to fight from underneath.
During the commercial break, Penelope Ford was checked on and ruled out of the match. After Harley Cameron tagged out, she largely stayed out of the match as well.”

Also confirmed by Sapp was that the DQ finish, which occurred when new AEW signing Lena Kross came out to attack Willow, resulting in the disqualification, was a mid-match change due to Ford’s injury. This couldn’t come at a worse time for Ford, who had just come back from another injury, which had her sidelined for months, and was building momentum with Bayne as one of the top tag teams in AEW’s new women’s division.
While the exact nature of the injury has yet to be confirmed, it undoubtedly has the potential to be another setback for AEW’s women’s tag team scene which has yet to truly find it’s footing.
Wishing Penelope Ford a speedy recovery and hoping her injury isn’t too serious.
