Katie Taylor has one more fight in her.
Katie Taylor To Retire
Katie Taylor is one of the best female boxers the sport has to offer, but, the 39 year old Olympic gold medalist is looking to hang the gloves up after an illustrious career. Katie (25-1) is coming off of two back-to-back wins over Amanda Serrano which both aired live on Netflix. Now, Taylor admits she has one more fight before heading into retirement.
The Irish star spoke with RTE Sport, where she revealed that the details are being ironed out, but she’s got one more boxing match before she steps away. “We’re still trying to figure the details out but I do having one more fight this year. It’s kind of like my retirement fight.”
She went on to note that she’s hoping for one more fight and says for her last fight, she wants to end it in Dublin, Ireland. “That’s what we’re hoping and preparing for, to have one last fight. It is going to be an amazing celebration.” She continued, “I just want to fight in Dublin to end my career. Obviously we’re still hoping for Croke Park, we’re hanging on to a bit of hope that it can happen.”
Katie did reiterate that Croke Park is at the top of her list. For Katie Taylor, she’s done it all in the sport. From Olympic gold, to boxing championships, she only lost one time, which was to Chantelle Cameron, but, she later avenged that loss and beat Chantelle in a rematch.
We wish the best to Katie Taylor in her retirement and look forward to one last ride!
