Cody Rhodes Talks About Possible Future as Head of WWE Creative

Ever since Triple H took over creative in the summer of 2022, it’s been a popular discussion among fans about who among WWE’s current roster would be a great choice to take Hunter’s spot when the time comes. There are certainly a few names that are mentioned more frequently than others. One of them is the WWE’s QB1 himself, Cody Rhodes.

In an interview on Unsportsmanlike with Evan, Canty, and Michelle, Rhodes talked about his potential future as the head of creative in WWE while also shining a spotlight on other superstars who could possibly have a role in overseeing WWE’s future, such as CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Bayley, and even Roman Reigns.

“I felt like I have some experience and I’d be interested in something like, but also it’s very clear that CM Punk is really great at helping develop young talent. Probably has a knack for it more than anybody. Seth Rollins is a little bit more rough around the edges, but probably would be an outstanding boss when it comes down to it. I’d love to throw my name in the hat. I don’t know if I’m ready to do it officially yet, but I like the fact that there’s the three of us, plus there’s ton of other people. Bayley, Roman will always have a say, you just got an older locker room right now. So eventually those positions see if you can do good because it’s not always booking. The industry is not easy, and Triple H is doing a great job, so thankfully, we have him for quite some time.”

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is certainly a likely candidate to take over creative, but, as he mentioned in the interview, since CM Punk returned to WWE, it seems he’s destined for a major backstage role in the future. Perhaps Punk follows in Shawn Michaels’ footsteps and runs NXT, helping cultivate WWE’s future superstars. Seth Rollins is another name that has come up in conversations about who could replace Triple H, especially given that, in many ways, HHH was Rollins’ mentor in the industry.

With her recent Lodestone training seminar, which was lauded by fans and industry professionals alike, it’s easy to imagine Bayley playing a significant role in WWE’s women’s division from behind the scenes, and she could even help scout, sign, and train new talent something she has already proven to have a knack for. The mention of Roman Reigns is interesting given his extremely part-time schedule, but as long as WWE continues to sign members of the Anoa’i family, Reigns could, as Cody says, have a say in the company’s creative direction.

Again, these are all conversations for a much later day. While Triple H received fair criticism for his booking, particularly in 2025, it’s still leagues superior to how things were under Vince McMahon. The company, in spite of its issues, is in a period of massive financial and viewership success under Triple H.

Suffice to say WWE has a lot of great options among it’s current roster for possible future head of creatives. Whether it be Cody, Punk, or Bayley, the company will certainly always be in good hands in that aspect.
