Canada, UFC is coming!

UFC is finally returning to Canada. After rumors of an event date and even city switches, UFC have finally confirmed today that they’re returning to Winnipeg for a Fight Night event on April 18, 2026. Not only did well get the news of the event itself, but, we also have the main event for the show.
It was also announced that Canada’s own Mike Malott will take on Brazilian veteran Gilbert Burns in the main event for five rounds at Welterweight.

Gilbert Burns is 22-9, but hasn’t had the best luck lately. His last win was in 2023 over Jorge Masvidal, but since that win, he’s lost four in a row. He lost to two former champions in Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, and two title contenders in Sean Brady and Michael Morales. But, he’s back on the grind to get a win over Canada’s own Mike Malott in his home territory. Mike is currently 13-2 and riding a three fight win streak, with his biggest win coming in his last time out against Kevin Holland. “Proper” Mike Malott now has a bigger task ahead of him with a hungry veteran in Gilbert Burns who’s looking to get back in the win column. We’ll see how it plays out on April 18!
