AJ Styles appeared for TNA Wrestling on the January 15 premiere of Thursday Night iMPACT on AMC network as the debut episode. Many fans hoped AJ would wrestle at the event, as he hinted at confrontations with both Frankie Kazarian and Mike Santana. AJ did not wrestle at the event, and has since retired – at least from WWE.
AJ put his career on the line against Gunther at the WWE Royal Rumble on January 31st, and fell short of the victory. AJ thanked the crowd, but did not leave his boots or gloves in the ring.
Many fans have speculated that AJ Styles could still wrestle elsewhere, although nobody knows when his contract with WWE is up.
While speaking about the Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast on AJ Styles recent retirement from WWE, Matt Hardy says he would like for AJ Styles to return to TNA:
“In a perfect world, I would like to see AJ Styles return to his home to TNA. It’s a little selfish for me to ask that, but I know he loves TNA. He feels at home in TNA. Right now, TNA is in a position where AJ Styles could greatly elevate the company and he would be a big deal there. So, I would love to see him there.
— There’s a bunch of people that would love to see him do something at AEW just because he has Samoa Joe there. Christopher Daniels is there, too. Obviously, those guys were so closely connected. But I do not think he’s done. I 100% think AJ will wrestle again, and I feel in my heart that it will end up being at TNA.”

Whether AJ wrestles again anywhere – whether it be TNA, AEW, or any other company – remains to be seen. He has previously been adamant about being retired completely by the end of 2026.
