It was recently discovered that the trademark for The Wrestling Code had been abandoned on December 29, 2025.
Virtual Basement announced back in 2020 that they would be developing a professional wrestling video game and began compiling a roster of wrestlers. Earlier this morning, an update was provided by Jamie The Game Dev in the Virtual Basement Discord server.
Below is the update from Jamie – The Game Dev regarding The Wrestling Code:
“Hey everyone. Don’t worry, we’re still working on the game. The trademark was applied for and gets officially given to us once the game is released. This status is just an automated change and the renewal has already been applied for. (apparently this process can take 6 months).
To clear things up further too, we’ve been quiet on TWC lately because we can only work on it part time while we finishing up a contract on another game project and once that is complete (which will be soon) we will be back full time to TWC.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this difficult time in the games industry and we can’t wait to share some of the stuff we’ve been cooking up!”
