At MLW Battle RIOT VIII, Templario put the MLW World Middleweight Championship on the line against KUSHIDA. KUSHIDA defeated Templario to become the new MLW World Middleweight Champion. After the match, Ikuro Kwon came to the ring and attacked Templario. KUSHIDA joined in on the attack and officially became a member of Contra.
