Last night on NXT, a 7 man ladder match took place to determine a new NXT Champion after Oba Femi vacated it back at NXT New Year’s Evil. Ricky Saints, Jackson Drake, Shiloh Hill, Dion Lennox, Keanu Carver, Sean Legacy, and Joe Hendry all put their bodies on the line with some crazy spots throughout the match.
In the end, Joe Hendry and Ricky Saints played a game of tug of war at the top of the ladder with Hendry ultimately hitting Saints with the NXT Championship resulting in Saints falling to a ladder below and Hendry grabbing the title. Hendry becomes NXT Champion only a few months into his official WWE career.
This was the first ladder match for the NXT Championship since Finn Bálor defeated Kevin Owens at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015.
