Awkward moment that Alex is sorry for.
UFC 325 Main Event
UFC 325 was this past Saturday in Sydney, Australia and the main event for the evening was Alexander Volkanovski successfully defending his UFC Featherweight Championship against Diego Lopes. Following the fight, Alex took his his own YouTube channel to breakdown the fight and talk about how he felt in the cage that night.
At the end of the bout, there was a moment where the two were grappling and Alex was able to slip out, but found himself on top of Diego, basically sitting on his face, to which Volkanovski is sorry for.
”Again, I wasn’t too worried anyway, I just knew that I would end up on top and that’s exactly what happened. That’s when we ended up in that position where I was sort of hitting on his face, which was pretty funny. And again, I was just, I was there, I was like “oh, I’m going to end up on top here. I’m winning. He’s holding onto me, there’s not much he can do.” I guess I, I didn’t realize my ass was actually on his face. I thought that I was sitting on his chest, that’s why I’m like trying to swing back these punches, thinking his heads there, no, I’m like “why aren’t I hitting his head?” That was because I was literally sitting on his face. So, I thought his head was maybe a little bit further out. So, I apologize for that, Lopes. Didn’t know I was sitting on your face.”
The moment went viral on the night with many fans laughing about it, some even saying “this is the type of fight that happens when I invite my boys over to watch UFC.” In fairness to Alex, he was facing the opposite way and doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head. At least he’s sorry!
