Dustin isn’t for squashing beef.
Heated Rivalry
Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor have had a rivalry dating back years. They first fought in 2014 at UFC 178 when both were younger and lighter, and Conor won that night by round one TKO. As the years passed, the hatred built, and they finally had their rematch in 2021 at UFC 257. Dustin won that night by KO in round two, but with a 1-1 record against each other, the rivalry grew more and it got personal. Conor was talking about Dustin’s wife, family was thrown into it and things got heated. That same year at UFC 264, they had the trilogy. But, it ended on less than stellar terms when Conor lost after he broke his tibia and fibula during the bout. Still, Conor said Dustin’s wife was in his DM’s.
Five years later, there’s still hatred. Dustin Poirier was interviewed on the Ariel Helwani show today and asked Dustin about Conor wishing him congratulations on the birth of his son, and if the beef is squashed.
”Fuck no, man. Fuck Conor.” Dustin said. Ariel followed up by saying he thought Conor sent a nice message. Dustin shook his head and replied “No.” Well, that settles that. The rivalry continues, despite retirement from Dustin, who’s now an analyst with the UFC and not in the cage anymore.
