Dakota Ditcheva has broken her hand, again.

Fight Cancellation

Dakota Ditcheva is one of the hottest female prospects in MMA right now and was schedule to fight  Denise Kielholtz on February 7 at PFL Dubai. In late December, that fight was cancelled due to an undisclosed injury to Dakota. Today, Dakota Ditcheva sat down with The Ariel Helwani Show for an interview and revealed that she actually broke her hand again, something she’s done in the past, and gave a timeframe of when we could see her back.

”I was very, very heartbroken at the time. I was like crying for two days straight. I was actually over in Thailand, so I was doing a bit of training over there. Just wanted to switch it up a bit. I’m always someone that likes to kind of go out of my comfort zone, you know? I feel like at top team, I’ve kind of got a little bit comfortable, I wanted to, before I got into a strict camp, to switch it up a little bit, train some different bodies and yeah, I ended up breaking my hand a little bit while I was over there, which wasn’t really good. I was very heartbroke, but, everything happens for a reason and it’s been a tough year, I would say, because of the last heartbreak, but, it is what it is. We keep moving.” Dakota continued on when asked about if it was the same hand she broke before. “No, it’s a different hand, yeah, but no surgery on this one.”

As far as a timeline goes, Dakota is hoping to be back as soon as April or May.

”I mean the last few weeks, I’ve got a cast on it at the moment, I’ve got probably a week and a half left in that and then hopefully I can go into maybe just a splint that I can wear like, sometimes. I need to go back and see my doctor because I’m in the U.K. at the moment but, we’ll see where it goes from there. I’m hoping like April-May time, back in the cage. Like, I’m working on it and I’ll be in there, I’ll be fighting twice this year, maybe three times, we’ll see.”

It’s unclear if PFL is looking to re-book the fight between Dakota and Denise Kielholtz, or if they’ll go another route. Time will tell, socially with Ditcheva’s recovery time. We wish her the best in her recovery.
