Yota Tsuji and Konosuke Takeshita put their respective championships on the line at Wrestle Kingdom 20. Takeshita put the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship on the line and Tsuji put the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship on the line. The winner would hold both championships but the titles would not be unified.
In a banger of a match, Yota Tsuji defeated Konosuke Takeshita via submission to become both the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion.
