Recent AAA Show Was Sold Out “A Day In Advance”, Deemed “Its Best In Years”

Back in April, it was announced that WWE had acquired the top Lucha Libre promotion in Mexico, AAA. The company has run shows regularly since then, with both Jeremy Borash and Mark Calaway (formerly The Undertaker) reportedly being prominent figures in the production and creative of the company.

Regarding the most recent 12/20 AAA show, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that “AAA put on what was its best show in years, with Guerra de Titanes on 12/20, as the first pro wrestling show at the new Arena Guadalajara.

The booking of the show was handled by Jeremy Borash and Undertaker. They worked with Konnan and Dorian Roldan and went through them to make sure the ideas worked based on AAA history and Mexican pro wrestling culture.

The show drew a sellout for a 13,000-seat set-up. The show sold out a day in advance and Mexico is still mostly a walk-up market. The reaction to Rey Mysterio was unreal. It was even bigger than Mistico at Arena Mexico.”

Dave continued: “I had multiple people from WWE note to me they thought as a pure show, just crowd and matches and forgetting about special effects, that this was one of the best or even the best WWE show this year.

The show featured Rey Mysterio, Dom Mysterio, El Hijo Del Vikingo, and Omos, to name a few.
