CMLL Hypes Over 1 Million Paid Attendance For 2025, More News & Notes

CMLL has seemingly had a great year with attendance and other business metrics, and that has been majorly helped by AEW’s partnership, where both companies sent major stars to each others companies for events.

Regarding CMLL attendance, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that “The 12/26 Arena Mexico show has already sold out. After October being the weakest month of the year due to featuring women so heavily as the main events, they ended the year with six sellouts in the last nine Fridays. With two shows to go, they are somewhere between ,1,076,000 and 1,092,000 for the year, although including the Pokemon show and the AEW show, that would put it at 1,106,000 to 1,122,000 in paid attendance as of right now and that figure would not include sponsored shows in the building. That would easily, probably by close to 200,000 paid attendance, break any previous record in any building in the history of wrestling.

Regarding the growth of both women and children attending shows, Dave continues: “CMLL acknowledged wrestling awards, which used to be something promotions didn’t do. They thanked both the Mexican wrestling media and wrestling media outside Mexico for all the nice words they’ve said about 2025. Salvador Lutteroth said selling 1 million tickets at Arena Mexico had been a dream and hope for many years. He said they were most excited about the fact that they had such a big growth in children and women attending the promotions’ shows this year. He said the growth of women was just not couples, women attending with husbands and boyfriends, but groups of single women coming together. You can see that in Friday night crowd shots, with groups of women sitting together dressed up far more than you’d see at a pro wrestling show in the U.S. or even Japan. He said those increases tell him that they are doing something right.”

Regarding other upcoming shows and news, Dave says: “They announced that for International Women’s Day, but two days earlier since that’s the Friday, they will be doing the next all-women’s show. This is the only promotion that goes back to a gimmick that doesn’t draw over and over because they feel it’s a good look for the company.

They also announced the joint show with MLW (Major League Wrestling) will be sometime in May.”

Bodyslam will continue coverage of CMLL.
