Thea Hail Defeats Blake Monroe to Become the New NXT Women’s North American Champion in Controversial Fashion

Blake Monroe put the NXT Women’s North American Championship on the line against Thea Hail to kick off NXT tonight. Thea Hail pinned Blake Monroe to become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion but not without controversy. The referee counted to three but Blake Monroe attempted to kick out. Production played Blake Monroe’s theme song but immediately switched it to Thea Hail’s. Everyone looked stunned.

According to TC of WrestleVotes, there are discussions ongoing as to how to handle what went down. Changes to the show are expected.

I'm told by a source behind the scenes at NXT right now that discussions are underway as to how to handle the unforseen Women's North American title change in the match between Monroe Blake & Thea Hail.

Changes to the remainder of the show are expected.
