Netflix Wins Bidding War For Warner Brothers Discovery
According to Deadline, Netflix will begin exclusive talks to finalize a deal for Warner Brothers Discovery, which the streaming giant will acquire the studios and HBO Max streaming assets.
Although Comcast was considered as a potential bidder, it was Paramount who truly wanted to acquire all of Warner Bros Discovery which would have included their television networks.
Speculation has started running rampant in regards to All Elite Wrestling’s streaming future with HBO Max as Netflix is the exclusive home of WWE RAW in the United States as well as every WWE program internationally.
Now that Netflix has begun talks to acquire Warner Brothers Studios and HBO Max, Paramount would still remain a potential suitor for Warner Bros Discovery’s television networks which boats cable channels like CNN, TNT, and TBS. Paramount has not conceded in regards to the full Warner Bros Discovery assets. They have sent a strongly worded letter to WBD CEO David Zaslav accusing the company of orchestrating an “unfair” and “tainted” sales process that’s favors Netflix bid over others.
This is only the beginning of what could potentially be a very long legal process.
