CM Punk Announces Larry Has Passed Away

On Tuesday, CM Punk announced in an Instagram post that Larry, the beloved dog who captured hearts worldwide as CM Punk and AJ Lee’s loyal companion, sadly passed away.

Adopted in February 2015 from PAWS Chicago’s Underdog to Wonderdog program, a no-kill shelter initiative for overlooked pups, Larry had a tough start with a docked tail and a shy demeanor from his rough early life. However, under Punk and AJ’s care, he blossomed into a confident, joyful “project dog” who became a social media sensation, a fixture in Punk’s wrestling gear (like the iconic “Larry” sweatshirt), and even a storyline element in WWE’s 2024 Feud of the Year against Drew McIntyre, who taunted Punk with a bracelet engraved with AJ and Larry’s names.

In his tribute, Punk reflected on the depth of their bond:

“The grief we carry is the price we pay for unconditional love. Our little Larry crossed the rainbow bridge, wrapped tightly in our arms. He was safe and happy. Surrounded by love. We rescued Larry from @pawschicago in February of 2015 and he changed our lives. I could never in one million years find the words to properly express how much we loved him nor how much joy brought us. Nothing I write, no pictures I post would do him justice. He lived a long amazing life. He watched sunsets, he chased skate boards. He made everywhere we went with him home. What a privilege to be so heart broken and devastated for having experienced such a bond. I wouldn’t change anything. Our boy is at rest. The house is quiet but we still hear the jingle of his necklace and the tip taps of his little feet on the hardwood floors. He will always be near. We will always feel him. Our hearts are broken. Until we see you again, sweetest Bobo. We love you. Forever.

Larry’s health had declined recently. Punk mentioned in a September 2025 podcast appearance on Pardon My Take that Larry underwent surgery for mobility issues, leading Punk to drive to WWE shows with him in a stroller to avoid stressful flights. Fans and fellow wrestlers flooded the post with tributes. Paul Heyman called him a “true superstar,” while others shared stories of Larry’s cameos at events like AEW All Out 2022. Even WWE’s Mattel toy line had scanned Larry for an upcoming CM Punk action figure set.

If you’ve ever lost a pet, you know that this cuts deep. Larry wasn’t just a dog, he was family, therapy, and a reminder of redemption. Rest easy, Larry. On behalf of the entire Bodyslam family, we send our love and condolences to CM Punk and AJ Lee.
