NXT Group Dark State Attack Leon Slater & Je’Von Evans, Ruin Potential Match Of The Year Candidate; Details On Match Finish
TNA star Leon Slater defended his X Division Title at the Bound For Glory PPV this past Sunday night against NXT phenom Je’Von Evans. The two went for twenty minutes snd defined exactly what the TNA X division is all about. Unfortunately, the match went to a 20 minute draw. Santino Marella came out and gave them five more minutes.
The two continued beating the shit out of each other until the lights suddenly went out. NXT faction Dark State came out through the crowd and beat down both competitors, ending the match.
This left many fans to wonder why the match would end this way. It seems now, we may have some clarity.
Jon Alba of The Takedown on Sports Illustrated reported that “The Takedown on SI was told that, even before the positive reception to the Bound For Glory match, it was widely believed that Evans and Slater would have another singles match at some point soon. One source specifically pointed to NXT Halloween Havoc as having been discussed as a possible show to run the match back on.
It is worth noting that sources have indicated WWE especially has “a lot of pull” when its talents are utilized on TNA programming.”
This seems to indicate that a title change was in the works, and WWE/NXT wants it to happen on their show, not a TNA show.
