The Rock Reveals How He Suffered a Concussion While Filming ‘The Smashing Machine’

The Rock took some damage during the filming for this A24 movie.

Appearing on the Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show, The Rock was promoting his newest film ‘The Smashing Machine’ where he portrays the real life story, trials and tribulations of Mark Kerr, a former fighter in the UFC and PRIDE FC and how everything unfolded throughout his life and career.

During the filming, the Rock reveals he actually suffered a concussion from trying to make sure everything filmed looked real.

“You’ll see in the movie, he’s rocking me over and over again. It was wild. After the fight, you see me and I look like I’m loopy, that’s because I had a concussion. It’s the thing you have to do. If you’re going to make a MMA movie, you have to go all the way. That’s what we did with this,” he said.

Prior to the release of the film, the Rock had received a standing fifteen-minute ovation at the Venice Film Festival.
