Concern Mounts For Niven As WWE Silence Continues
For fans of World Wrestling Entertainment around the globe, the resurgence in popularity in more recent years has led to a very good 2025 calendar of sport so far and there has pretty much been something for everyone…whether that be new talent making a name for themselves in the ring, or even older names making a return to the sport and re-engaging with their old fans and supporters.
Amongst the good headlines and storylines that have been created though, and there have also been plenty of MMA results and fixtures for people track if they more prefer that side of the sport, followers of Piper Niven’s efforts in the ring will now be concerned about her own future in the game as it is now being speculated by some ‘self claimed’ WWE insiders that the superstar ‘might never wrestle again’ given the fears that she has now picked up a career threatening injury.
The 34 year old Scotland native has been out of action since late August after picking up an issue following her involvement in an episode of SmackDown. Her last appearance in the ring came in a single’s victory secured over Charlotte Flair – who also forms one half of the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Alexa Bliss. Fans will remember that her victory over Flair was an impressive one but it came at a cost and with followers already concerned about her WWE absence, those fears will only be magnified amongst the speculation that it may well have been her last act of wrestling on the television for a long time.
Despite the rumours that are now swirling around various media outlets, her injury is simply being classified as a serious one, but there is no additional clarity here or even suggestions of what the problem she picked up might have been. This has now been repeated for a while without the nature or severity being specified. However, speaking recently on Wrestling Observer Live, reporter Bryan Alvarez, described it as being potentially ‘career ending’ and far more of a concern than was originally thought.
Whether this is just idle rumouring from behind the scenes to fill the airwaves because there has so far been no confirmation of the injury, or even what kind of time scale Niven may be looking at before she can complete her rehabilitation period and then make her return, is a topic that will be open for debate until fans hear real information and not just speculation, but it will certainly not allay the existing concerns.
Niven had been scheduled to wrestle alongside Chelsea Green in a Women’s Tag Team Championship tussle with Flair and Bliss following the last match up, but that bout has obviously been subsequently cancelled, and again no additional information or explanation was offered which further sparked confusion and further fuelled the rumours that her absence did mean that there was a far larger issue at play here than anyone had originally considered.
Hopefully, as the coming weeks and months pass, fans will get firm answers here and the initial concerns that have been aired will prove to be utterly false and she will be back in the ring and entertaining once again in very short order.
