Say his Name, and he appears in TNA…for now…
This past Tuesday during the NXT Homecoming episode, former TNA World and current WWE backstage producer Champion Bobby Roode appearing on NXT this past Thursday and telling Hendry “now that you’re in NXT, there’s a title that you need to focus on and it’s the NXT title. When the day comes, I’ll have your back.”
This led many fans to speculate as to whether Hendry – who has become a normal fixture on NXT television in recent months – has officially signed with the promotion.
We now have somewhat of an answer to that question.
Moments ago, Sports Illustrated’s Jon Alba reported excluvisely that “Multiple WWE and TNA sources tell The Takedown on SI that Hendry is in the process of being largely phased out of TNA programming and integrated more into WWE TV. The internal expectation across people in both companies is that he will be WWE-bound on a full-time basis by the beginning of 2026.”
“While some on social media have speculated that Hendry is already under WWE contract, TNA President Carlos Silva tells The Takedown on SI that Hendry is still currently under a deal with TNA, and that WWE NXT and TNA coordinate their talent usage together as part of their partnership.”
Joe Hendry is a former TNA World Champion and was a big part of both the company and the main event scene in TNA over the last two years, having competed in both the WWE Royal Rumble and this last years WrestleMania in a match against Randy Orton, all while representing the TNA brand.
Joe is currently in a feud with TNA stalwart Eric Young, and it looks like Young will likely be the one to write Joe off of TNA television ahead of his impending official jump to WWE.
