TNA Stars Steve Maclin & Xia Brookside Headed To India, Maclin Set To Defend The International Title

Earlier today, VINEET RAMAKRISHNAN of News18 in India revealed via internet article that TNA International Champion Steve Maclin is scheduled to defend the International Title in New Delhi, India this weekend as he heads over there with TNA Knockout Xia Brookside on September 20 & 21.

Steve & Xia will be competing for Global League Wrestling. While it hasn’t been revealed who Maclin will defend the title against, it’s notable that his very first defense outside of the United States will be in front of TNA’s largest international television partner, who airs TNA on Eurosport.

Maclin comments on the upcoming event, stating “the closest I’ve been [to India] was Afghanistan when I was with the Marine Corps, and obviously that was under very different circumstances. So I’m very much looking forward to this trip – to represent TNA Wrestling as the TNA International Champion.”

“I know you guys follow us on Eurosport, so it’s fun to come here live and represent TNA Wrestling. It’s about introducing myself and TNA at GLW, to fans who may be watching live wrestling for the first time.”

Maclin also mentions that this will be just one of many international title defenses.

“It’s the first of many international stops, but India gets the honor of being the first. That makes it unforgettable already.”

This news being revealed comes only days after Steve said he was working on when he would defend the title outside of the US in true “international champion” fashion.

Maclin is eager to immerse himself in Delhi’s hospitality, and culinary delights at the GLW event slated for September 20th and 21st at the Thayagraj Stadium, New Delhi.

Steve Maclin won the inaugural TNA International Title back in April through a series of three-way matches as part of a tribute to the famous triple threat match of Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, and AJ Styles at TNA Unbreakable 2005. Since becoming the champion, Steve has been clamoring to defend the title outside of the US, and now he got his wish.

Steve will be defending the title in two weeks against Frankie Kazarian at the LIVE Victory Road event on 9/26.
