TNA President Carlos Silva, Head of Talent Relations Tommy Dreamer, & MLPW Owner Scott D’Amore All Deny Report Of TNA Talent Not Being Allowed To Work Maple Leaf Pro Events
During a recent Signed by Superstars virtual signing, TNA wrestler Moose spoke about his relationship with former TNA President Scott D’Amore.
Former TNA World Champion Moose mentioned that he wants to work with Scott and his Maple Leaf Pro company, but claimed that due to their relationship with WWE and rivalry with AEW, he is not allowed to work with the promotion.
“I talk to him (Scott D’Amore) at least once every other week, maybe once a month. He’s doing great. He has his new fed, Maple Leaf Pro. They’re doing awesome. I wish I could work for them but you know how business is with the whole TNA — they have a relationship with AEW, we’re in competition with AEW so you know how all that whole nonsense goes.”
On Friday, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter had some more context on the situation.
The Wrestling Observer published a report stating, “TNA talent is not allowed to work on Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Wrestling shows even though most of them like D’Amore. The reason is that TNA management considers AEW as the enemy and D’Amore is allowed to book AEW talent. This is no way that decision would be made by anyone in TNA who cared about the talent and basically shows at the top level, TNA is controlled by WWE.”
Sean Ross Sapp revealed on the Fightful Select Q & A that “Moose and Jordynne Grace were not able to do it at one point, but that’s because they held titles in TNA. (TNA President) Carlos Silva and Scott D’Amore of Maple Leaf Pro both told me that the relationship is fine even though TNA wrestlers haven’t been working at as much lately, but it’s not a thing that’s active or because of any AEW connection or anything like that. There was a situation where Moose wasn’t allowed to. He wasn’t permitted, he didn’t make that up.”
It would seem that either Dave Meltzer or both Moose and Dave Meltzer assumed that the reason had to do with AEW, but that’s not the case.
Since this report came out, it has been refuted by both sides and multiple people, including: TNA President Carlos Silva, Maple Leaf Pro owner Scott D’Amore and TNA Head of Talent Relations Tommy Dreamer.
Fightful Select was able to get an official comment from both TNA President Carlos Silva, and Maple Leaf Pro owner Scott D’Amore who denied this and stated that “TNA talent can and have appeared on MLPW.”
“We asked Scott D’Amore who also denied it, saying “In fact not only has TNA talent appeared on MLP with the blessing of TNA but when TNA needed help when last in Canada In connected them to a production house I have a 30 year relationship with, I got my printer to print materials for them AND even through I haven’t rented a ring out in 20 plus years I rented them ring, guardrails, etc when they were in a jam.”
Since Scott D’Amore opened up Maple Leaf Pro back in October of 2024, lots of talent from different companies have walked through those doors and wrestled in the ring- AEW, TNA, DDT, some eve. affiliated with the WWE ID program.
Since its return, TNA had previously allowed Jake Something, Josh Alexander, Mike Bailey, Ace Austin, and most recently allowed contracted talent Santino Marella to work a show as well.
