Josh Hokit Spews Transphobic Post-Fight Interview on Dana White’s Contender Series, Earns UFC Contract
Josh Hokit will be fighting in the UFC soon after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series.
On the August 19th edition of Dana White’s Contender Series on ESPN+, the world watched heavyweight action between Josh Hokit and Guilherme Uriel, where Hokit ended the fight in the second round of the first minute with elbows to force a TKO stoppage, but that’s not what created the headlines that were stirred up after his post-fight interview.
A WWE style promo that involved Hokit saying that he wants to get rid of the heavyweight division in the UFC and his opponents will be the likes of sexual predators, traffickers, murders, pedophiles, before Hokit decided to say he would throw Transgender people in there so that he can show the world that there are “consequences to your actions.
Uriel, who was the opponent of Hokit had shared videos that were posted to the Instagram page of Hokit’s where it was filled with racist remarks about his opponent, including referring to Uriel with a derogatory slur.
Hokit spoke to the media following the show and said that future fighters who join the UFC should be asked if they speak English before they are allowed to fight in the major MMA organization.
The performance and post-fight interview were enough to have UFC President Dana White reward Hokit with a UFC contract to fight in the heavyweight division, there is no word yet on when his first fight in the UFC octagon will be.
