Mercedes Mone: Tonga Loa Got Me In Contact With Rocky Romero And That Led To Me Signing With New Japan
Mercedes Mone talks about how she joined New Japan Pro Wrestling.
At Wrestle Kingdom 17, Mercedes Mone shocked the world when she confronted the IWGP Women’s World Champion, Kairi (Now known as Kairi Sane in WWE) where she laid out the challenge for the next month at Battle in the Valley, which Mone would go on to win to become the new Women’s Champion of NJPW.
However, when asked about how she ended up in New Japan, Mone gave praise to former Bullet Club member and current MFT member, Tonga Loa, who got Mone in contract with Rocky Romero to get in NJPW.
Loa signed with the WWE in 2025, and recently, Mone competed at AEW’s All In event in Arlington, Texas where she lost for the first time in years to Toni Storm for the AEW World Women’s Championship.
Mone is still the current TBS Champion in All Elite Wrestling, as well as a champion in eight other promotions.
