Matt & Jeff Hardy have been in New York the last few weeks doing the media rounds ahead of and to promote the TNA Slammiversary PPV on July 20th.
The latest piece of media they did was being guests on the Ariel Helwani Show yesterday.
Ariel Helwani – What’s amazing about this is…WWE in 2000 wouldn’t work with TNA, so why does it happen now? There was a time when they didn’t co-promote or send their talent to other promotions. What’s the difference?
Matt – Ariel, why do you think it’s happening now?
Ariel – I have an idea, but I want to hear yours. The big man isn’t there now, right? Or do you think it’s a different reason?
Matt – I think part of it is AEW and its existence, if I’m being honest.
Ariel – OK, so part of it is to block out these other guys and prop TNA up at the same time?
Matt – I think it could be a feasible option. It’s helping us, there’s no doubt. TNA as a company has been around for over two decades – 20+ years – and they’ve been a staple of pro wrestling. [TNA] does a style that is more similar to the WWE style. I think it’s a good call. I think it’s a win-win for everybody.
Ariel – Do you think there will ever be a period where it’s more WWE-TNA opposed to NXT-TNA?
Matt – It could be possible, especially with some select acts from my understanding, kind of how things are.

Matt and Jeff Hardy are currently signed to TNA Wrestling and challenging for the TNA Tag Team Titles in a Four-Team Ladder Match at Slammiversary for the titles. The other two teams challenging are The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) and FIR$T CLA$$ (AJ Francis & KC Navarro), while the Nemeths – Nic & Ryan – are trying to successfully fend off all challengers to keep the titles.
Will the Hardy’s come away with another TNA Tag Team Title victory, or will another team swoop in and capture the titles? We’ll have to tune in to Slammiversary to find out.
