One of the most famous on screen performers for the WWE has been Raw commentator Pat McAfee, but he has not been on commentary for the last three weeks.
On the June 25th edition of the Pat McAfee Show, McAfee finally addressed publicly why he hasn’t been on WWE television for weeks, and revealed that he needs a break from it.
“I will not be commentating. Continuing to just like kinda catch up on life as a whole. You know, Post-Money in the Bank, Pre-Night of Champions. Feels like a good time. I was getting pretty exhausted there. So, shoutout to everybody in WWE looking out for me, too. Very very thankful.”
McAfee has been onscreen for the WWE since 2018 but he has been a part time commentator since 2021. Usually, McAfee doesn’t commentate during football season which is from August until the beginning of February. But when there is no football season, McAfee returns to commentary every single week.
Since McAfee hasn’t been on commentary, Michael Cole was paired with Wade Barrett on the June 9th edition of Raw. Barrett is currently the color commentator on Smackdown. For the last two weeks, Corey Graves stepped in for McAfee. Graves was a main roster color commentator for years but since the beginning of this year, Graves has been one of two color commentators on NXT.
