Team Musumeci takes the lead.
UFC BJJ: Road To The Title Episode 3
In today’s episode, we’re back to the Welterweight’s as Team Musumeci’s #3 seed Davis Asare takes on Team Gabriel’s #6 seed Austin Oranday. Luckily, both men made the 170lbs weight limit and the match was on for a spot in the semi-finals.
Today’s matchup was a quick one as we saw another upset. Davis Asare got a takedown immediately as he started pushing the pace right out of the gate. Austin Oranday tried to get his composure back and the two started both looking for leg locks on each other. Mikey Musumeci had previously told his teammate that Austin leaves his right leg opened, and he was correct.
Davis snatched the right leg and took the foot, looking for a foot lock. Once he had it in, the two rolled and Austin tapped out. Davis gets the first round submission win, but sadly, Austin was hurt. Hopefully nothing too serious and he can make a speedy recovery.

Team Musumeci is now in the lead with this win and is up 2-1. In tomorrow’s bout, we’re back to the Lightweights as Team Musumeci’s #4 seed Carlos Henrique takes on Team Gabriel’s #5 seed Gianni Grippo.
On June 25, the main event of UFC BJJ 1 will feature UFC BJJ: Road to the Title coaches Mikey Musumeci and Rerisson Gabriel competing for the inaugural UFC BJJ bantamweight championship, while the welterweight and lightweight finalists meet each other for gold in their respective divisions.
