After a year out of action, it seems Kiana James could be on her way back as it has been reported that James is backstage at the June 13th Smackdown in Lexington, Kentucky.
Fightful Select originally made the report on James being backstage and Bodyslam’s Cory Hays confirmed the report. James hasn’t wrestled on WWE television since June 17th of 2024.
“Fightful Select has learned that Kiana James was brought in to Lexington, Kentucky, where Smackdown is being held tonight. We’ve yet to learn if she’s planned for the actual show.”
James’s last match was a Money in the Bank qualifying match on the June 17th edition of Monday Night Raw. It was later learned that James suffered a serious knee injury which has kept her out of action since then.
James was signed to NXT back in February of 2022. Even though James never won a title in NXT, she still remained a vital part of the women’s division for three years. James was called up during the WWE Draft on April 26th of 2024. After becoming a member of Raw, she only had four televised matches in a nearly three month span. Three of those matches were on Main Event and James was injured in her only match on Raw.
