Malcolm is a full time fighter now.

Malcolm Wellmaker is now officially a full-time UFC fighter. The 9-0 prospect made his official UFC debut back in late April when he defeated Cameron Saaiman via knockout in round one. For that performance, Wellmaker was given a $50,000 performance bonus and he said post-fight that with the bonus, he will quit his day time job.
Malcom was a pipe fitter/welder, but that is no more. He actually quit his job, and he detailed how it happened at media day for UFC Atlanta.
Yeah, I didn’t really have to explain myself too much, I literally had on sweatpants and a hoodie, you know? Everybody else is wearing their hard tool boots and everything and I sat down at the table, I stopped and grabbed biscuits on the way to work, and they knew. Everybody that was at my job was supporting me. They watched the fight, they knew what my aspirations were and they knew what position I could be in if I got the bonus, so, we literally sat at the table for about an hour. I mean, they stopped work, we had a good farewell, we talked about all the memories, we talked about what’s next and I rounded up my tools and went home, you know? It was a very positive experience.
Following that April 26 fight, Wellmaker said he wanted a quick turn around and would like to fight on the UFC Atlanta card because he is a Georgia native. He did get his wish, and will fight Kris Moutinho this Saturday night at UFC Atlanta.
