UFC Rankings
Usually, we will see some movement in the rankings every Tuesday following a UFC event, if applicable. Well, following UFC 316 this past Saturday, we saw a ton of movement from multiple different divisions. Thanks to John Morgan for the updates.
Kicking things off with the Pound-For-Pound lists, Merab Dvalishvili has moved up two spots following his main event victory. He now sits at #2 ranked men’s pound-for-pound, surpassing Ilia Topuria and Jon Jones. Islam Makhachev remains number one. Sean O’Malley has dropped off the list completely, and Arman Tsarukyan is now #15 after being unranked.
On the women’s side, Kayla Harrison saw some movement in the women’s pound-for-pound. Kayla moves up four spots and is now ranked at #3 in the women’s pound-for-pound list. Kayla’s opponent, Juliana Pena, has dropped down to #5 and of course is the number one contender now in the women’s bantamweight division.
In the men’s bantamweight division, Mario Bautista has moved up to #9 following his win this past weekend. Umar Nurmagomedov moved up to #2.
Additionally, in the Welterweight rankings, Vicente Luque has dropped out of the top 15 with his loss, as Kevin Holland hops into the #14 spot after being unranked previously.
Joshua Van had a big win this past weekend and he moved up four spots in the Flyweight rankings. Josh Van has now moved into the top 10 and sits at #10. The man he defeated, Bruno Silva, falls two spots to #14. In the Light-Heavyweight division, Azamat Murzakanov now sits at #11, trading spots with Johnny Walker who is now #12.
In the Heavyweight division, Waldo Cortes-Acosta moves up three spots and is now in the top 10 at #8. The man he defeated at UFC 316, Serghei Spivac, falls down two spots to #9.
In the women’s Flyweight rankings, Wang Cong debuts in the rankings at #14. The woman she beat this past Saturday, Ariane da Silva drops to #15. This knocks JJ Aldrich out of the rankings.
