TUF 33: Danil Donchenko Ties Things Up For Team Cormier
Episode two of The Ultimate Fighter Season 33 was headlined by a Welterweight (170lbs) bout between Team Daniel Cormier’s Danil Donchenko and Team Chael Sonnen’s Richard Martins.
Richard, who is a grappler, previously told his coach that he was confident in standing and striking with Danil. In round one, his plan didn’t go too well, as Danil had him on the proverbial ropes early on, and though he wasn’t able to finish him, Danil did win the round.
In the second round, Richard started to fire back, but Danil continue to work like he did in round one. Dana White even noted that Danil was doing about everything you possibly can in a fight, but gave props that Richard wouldn’t go down. Both men were bleeding, but it was clear Danil was ahead.
If you didn’t know, they go two rounds in TUF, unless it’s a tie, then they’ll go to a third. The judges scored it two rounds to none and Danil Donchenko gets the win for team Daniel Cormier.
Chael Sonnen’s team won last week, so, now we’re all tied up 1-1 for the season! Flyweights will fight next week.
