Mariah May Off AEW Roster Page, But Contract Not Up Yet

Mariah May Stardom

Former AEW Women’s World Champion is off the AEW roster page which usually signals a wrestler no longer being under contract but it seems that isn’t the case.

According to Fightful Select, while May is indeed off the companies roster page, May’s management team confirmed that her deal hasn’t expired with AEW but she is expected to head to WWE very soon after the contract does expire.

Fightful Select can confirm PWInsider’s reports of such plans, and add more. May’s two-year contract with AEW is expected to expire and she will be effectively done with the company. There have been no substantial creative plans for her since the Hollywood Ending, and we’re told that most in the company expected her to move on to WWE.

May’s contract was a two year deal which is not a lot of years compared to what most wrestlers in AEW receive. May didn’t even have an additional option year in the deal. That itself sent many shockwaves throughout the wrestling space. People inside WWE have had immediate interest in May once they got word she was going to be available.

May’s final match with the company was the Hollywood Ending no disqualification match for the AEW Women’s Championship against Toni Storm at Revolution back in March. This was one of the best pro wrestling feuds of all time and easily one of the best AEW feuds in their short history.

May made her debut with the company in November of 2023 and was put alongside Toni Storm who was the champion at the time. It became a long story which had May winning the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and then defeating Storm for the title at All In 2024 at Wembley Stadium.

May has become one of the most notable and best women’s performers in wrestling which would make her exit from AEW and her eventual move to WWE a big deal. WWE has signed many top free agents over the last two years including Jordynne Grace, Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. The one thing those talent have in common is that they all were sent to NXT first before they eventually got called up. The question many fans have is if WWE will do the same with May.
