A former X Division champion is on his way out of TNA.
A few weeks ago, Fightful Select reported that Ace Austin and TNA had been negotiating a new deal.
Earlier today, PWInsider confirmed that, but also provided an update to the story.
“Former TNA X-Division and Tag Team Champion Ace Austin has exited TNA as his contract with the promotion has expired, PWInsider.com can confirm.
We are told that TNA did enter negotiations with Austin for a new deal, but the two sides did not come to terms. His final appearance for the promotion will be tonight’s TV episode vs. Mustafa Ali.”
Ace was never pushed to the World Title picture, even though many fans thought he should’ve been. Ace is a former three-time X Division Champion as well as a former three-time Tag Team Champion with partner Chris Bey. Ace participated in the New Japan Pro Wrestling Best of Super Juniors tournament a few years ago, and came close to winning it.
Ace Austin is a regular figure on Sami Callihan’s Pro Wrestling Revolver promotion.
