Rodolfo Bellato Pulled From UFC Vegas 106 Due To Herpes

Rodolfo Bellato was pulled.

UFC Vegas 106

Last night at UFC Vegas 106, Rodolfo Bellato was set to fight Paul Craig in the co-main event. Well, about thirty minutes before the bout was set to begin, UFC commentary announced on the broadcast that the bout was cancelled due to medical issues on Bellato’s end.

Following the show, Bellato revealed on his Instagram Story that he was pulled from the fight due to herpes. In the video, he displayed a close-up of the “herpes,” which appeared to be a cold sore.

“I never thought that herpes would take me out of a fight! I’m sorry to all of you guys, but it’s something that’s out of our control, I’ll have more news soon!” Bellato said.

This has been an issue in the past, with some TUF fights being cancelled due to the same reason. Dana White spoke on the matter, saying cold sores are a problem.

“As part of our health and safety protocols, all of our fighters have to go through a medical exam on fight day in order to get cleared to compete, It’s rare, but last-minute concerns do come up sometimes. Cold sores might not seem like a big deal, but they’re a big deal, It’s very contagious and it’s a problem.”

They did note on the broadcast that the bout between Paul and Rodolfo could be rescheduled for the next fight night on May 31, or the UFC 316 pay-per-view on June 7.
