Patchy Mix Reacts To Signing With UFC, Explains How Quickly Everything Came Together

Patchy Mix is now in the UFC.

We’ve heard it all week, the former Bellator Champion Patchy Mix was reported to step foot into the UFC on June 7 at UFC 316 once news broke that Marlon Vera pulled out of his bout with Mario Bautista due to injury.

Shortly after Vera pulled out, PFL announced that Patchy Mix was released from the promotion and would be a free agent immediately. Reports spread fast that Patchy would step in to face Bautista in June. Now, finally, during tonight’s UFC Vegas 106 event, UFC had Patchy Mix in the front row and announced that he has signed to the UFC and will fight Mario Bautista on June 7.

Following the event, Patchy Mix was able to speak on the post-show press conference. He was asked how quickly everything came together and he said it was quickly and noted that he wouldn’t have said no to anyone. 

You got the call, and you answer it. I’m not afraid of anyone in this division, especially Mario Bautista, so. He’s on a seven fight win streak and I want that seven fight win streak. So, when they called me, I answered it and I’ll make weight and I’ll get the job done. You know, it didn’t matter who. I didn’t mind if he was ranked number one or number fifty, I would’ve went against the best, the hardest, they guy that they didn’t want, you know, anyone to fight, it didn’t matter. It happened to be him and I think Chita Vera popped his rib or something, they called me within an hour or two, I was like “hell yeah”. Within like a day it was getting made.

Patchy Mix is from the New York area, so UFC 316 being in New Jersey is a bit of a homecoming for him. Coincidentally enough, the former Bellator Bantamweight will be on the same card as the UFC Bantamweight Championship bout between Merab Dvalishvilli and Sean O’Malley. Patchy noted that he’s friends with, and has trained with Merab, but he’s coming for the title.
