Former WWE superstar Shotzi seems to be on her way to compete at MLW on June 26th after her contract with WWE expires.
According to Fightful Select, Shotzi is confirmed for the show and MLW expects her to work many shows for them in the foreseeable future.
“They’ve communicated their excitement for her coming into the company, and they would like for her to have some reasonable freedom and input as to who she faces. Salina De La Renta has been working on doing an overhaul of MLW’s women’s divisions for a number of months. MLW sources claim that Shotzi vs. Shoko Nakajima is a big match they want to build to.”
While Shotzi wasn’t technically one of the names that got released from WWE a week ago, she was told on that day that WWE would not be renewing her contract which is set to expire in days. Due to WWE not choosing to renew the contract and letting it run out, that means she doesn’t have a 30 or 90 day no compete clause.
Shotzi was in WWE from 2019 until now and she had been up and down from the main roster. Most recently, she had been put in a team with Tatum Paxley and Gigi Dolin in NXT. Dolin was apart of the WWE releases post Wrestlemania as well.
No contract has been signed yet but it seems both sides want to work with each other more than a one time appearance.
Nakajima has been the MLW Women’s Featherweight Champion for 36 days. She has made appearances in MLW, Tokyo Joshi Pro, AEW and CMLL. This looks like MLW is ready to put Shotzi in a major spot right away which also can show other female wrestlers how much the company values women’s wrestling.
