UFC 315
With UFC 314 now in the rearview, we look ahead to UFC 315 on May 10 live from the Bell Centre in Montréal, Québec, Canada. The headliner for that event is a Welterweight Championship bout between current title holder Belal Muhammad and rising contender, Jack Della Maddalena.
Jack got the call to be a replacement for the original challenger, Shavkat Rakhmonov after he was injured and couldn’t compete. Jack is ranked #5 with a 17-2 record and looking to stop the champ in his tracks.
Now, fellow contender Ian Garry sat down to speak on the Ariel Helwani Show where he was asked about his divisions upcoming title bout and if he believes Belal wins, which he said ‘100%’. Ian then revealed that he believes the champion will steamroll the challenger.
Oh, 100%. 100%. And again, look, I think Jack’s phenomenally talented don’t get me wrong. I think he’s very, very good at what he does, but, stylistically, I watched Gilbert Burns rag doll him for two and a half rounds and then unfortunately get caught. I watched what’s his name, Bassil, what’s his name? I can’t remember his second name [Hafez]. Hafez, that’s the guy. I watched him rag doll Jack and I believe Jack lost that fight. It’s stylistically not a good fight for him. Now, if he comes out and puts on the show, the show of his life and proves to everyone that he can stop the takedown and stop the pace, then wow, good job, fair play to you, but, sitting here right now, I think Belal steamrolls him.
Ian Garry had the opportunity to be in this bout, but lost to Shavkat in the contenders matchup. Now, Garry gets a chance to bounce back when he headlines UFC Fight Night Kansas City against the unbeaten Carlos Prates on April 26.
