The GFL is too good to be true?

GFL (Global Fight League) is a new MMA promotion that had dozens of familiar names and legends such as Anthony Pettis, Robelis Despaigne, Paige VanZant, Tony Ferguson and many more. But, the opening event, which was seemingly headlined by Tony Ferguson vs. Dillon Danis, but, that’s no more.
Ariel Helwani has reported that GFL has canceled their first two events which were scheduled for May 24 and 25 in Los Angeles, per multiple sources and confirmed by CSAC executive director Andy Foster. Plus, there are serious doubts about the future of the promotion.
The Fight Oracle has leaned in to give some more detail, as it seems this was a cart before the horse situation.
This has happened many times in the past in several different fight promotions, where they build up a promotion that actually has no financial backing, and things fall through before the first event begins. We’ll keep you updated on if GFL will even reschedule their events, but it seems like the future of the promotion is hanging on by a thread.
