Kelvin Gastelum Reflects On UFCHall Of Fame Announcement

Gastelum is in the Hall Of Fame.

UFC Hall Of Fame

Kelvin Gastelum and Israel Adesanya have recently been announced as additions to the Fight Wing of the UFC Hall Of Fame for their epic clash at UFC 236. Both men went to war that night, and it’s deserving of an induction.

When the announcement was made live at UFC 312, Israel Adesanya was in the audience and had an emotional reaction. Kelvin on the other hand, was at home, in bed. Gastelum told UFC.com that he was woken up and got to watch it with his mother.

We got to share that special moment together with my mom, It was cool, very unexpected. I’m there in my robe and my underwear, (and) we’re getting emotional there in the living room watching it. It was cool. It was a very cool thing.

Though he’s honored to be in, Gastelum says it makes him feel old because he feels as though he still has gas in the tank.

I don’t even know if it’s real yet, when you start this, you don’t really ever think about getting inducted in the Hall of Fame. It makes me feel old, really. This is the stuff that old men do, getting inducted in the Hall of Fame. I’ve still got miles on the tread to shave down. I still feel like I’ve got a lot more to prove.

Kelvin Gastelum has a fight scheduled for this Saturday against Joe Pyfer at UFC Mexico.
